What’s your Pre- STAGE RITUAL?

What’s your Pre- STAGE RITUAL?

Mark here with something hot to share with you from the SPEAKING trenches.

Shannon and I were at a big event recently, about to go on stage.

There we were, behind stage… totally FOCUSED on doing our thing, preparing in the best way possible by getting into “STATE” when a less experienced Speaker wandered through and offered us unsolicited advice to “just breathe.”

Shannon and I looked at each other and moved ourselves to a corner to continue prepping.

What that woman didn’t understand was that we weren’t stressed or anxious– we were in our element and we know the importance of getting into STATE before we get on stage. This is our pre-stage ritual.

We leave nothing to chance and have a specific way of doing things that guarantees our success because we’ve mastered our INNER GAME.

But even I was blown away by what happened next.

As we hit the stage, Shannon came out in her stunning dress, blue eyes sparkling. And she just stood there holding the audience with her joy and her smile.

The crowd went wild. Talk about a Big Impact! EVERYONE wanted to know who “that woman” was.

I was so damned proud of her and what we’ve accomplished together. Needless to say, we rocked that event off the charts.

This is what’s possible when you’ve managed your inner state to the point where you can radiate your true essence… when you can make a real CONNECTION with your audience by allowing yourself to be playful, sexy and authentic.

So tell me now:

How Can YOU Enhance YOUR Pre-Stage Ritual?

  1. My inner game: I have never had anyone ask me this question. It is very interesting to put it into words. I take a number of deep breaths until I Feel Gods presence. Then I say to Him, I am here to use the talents you gave me. Open the hearts of this audience to hear the message you want them to hear, and if there are any last minute changes, I am all in. Give me the wisdom and confidence to connect with my audience. Let’s go do it.

    1. I love this Carolyn Grace. I can really feel YOU in this, so authentic. And to be open to inspiration in the moment vs attached to a script or pre conceived mental message. That’s powerful. Love it!!

  2. Circle of Excellence: I have a ritual based on the NLP technique known as “Circle of Excellence.” Whenever I’m engaging in a high value communication of any type, I step into my blue “Circle of Excellence.” I have consciously “downloaded” many of my high state moments of achievement and joy into my circle over the years, and I chose blue because it makes me feel confident. Right before the interaction, date, speech, whatever, I imagine my “Circle of Excellence” in front of me. I anticipate the feelings of confidence and joy as I step into my circle. I let the feelings of decades worth of special moments engulf me as I bring the blue color up all around me. (I have included special songs, and things people have told me in my special circle.) I walk into the situation totally blanketed in confidence, joy, and even love!

    1. Wow Ed, this is a cool concept. NLP is so powerful. I love it, thanks for sharing your brilliance. Hope to see you at an upcoming event and meet in person! Big Impact Live in Nov or our monthly Meetup if you’re local. Contact support@bigimpactlive.com with more info.

  3. Your ritual sounds lovely. I can relate to the feeling that all is well when you walk out to the audience. For me, it is a wonderful feeling of being confident to do the work that I am there to do and connected to the people I am there to serve. It also gives me space to have fun.

  4. Wow! I need to get me a ritual!
One thing I would like to do is have a friend there for support. That’s been a big thing for me in the past.
